New Single “Will To Survive” By Urban Renewal Project
Something very special happens when jazz is fused with hip-hop. The new single “Will To Survive” is no exception, the song features Vic Mensa. Mensa leads the bars along with two others to give the record its legs. The track is so warm and breezy that the group hit the desert for the video. Elmer Demond and Slim da Reazon are the other vocalists that join Vic on the piece. The song is part of the Urban Renewal Project or URP.
The Urban Renewal Project is a sixteen-piece collective known for its genre-bending original music combining elements of jazz, hip hop, and vintage soul. Its explosive live performances have captivated audiences from SXSW to the Java Jazz Festival.
Bringing new meaning to the term “old-school,” Pᴏssᴇ Cᴏᴍɪᴛᴀᴛᴠs expands on The Urban Renewal Project’s prior experiments with vintage styles and modern tastes by incorporating period instruments from the ancient Mediterranean into the group’s jazz-infused, underground hip hop aesthetic. Accompanied by an original manga chronicling the adventures of a young recruit from North Africa in the Roman Legion.
