Album Review – Brown Girl Diary By Lil Halima
It’s been a long time since we’ve heard a really good R&B album that didn’t get swept up in the commercial market. The project is titled Brown Girl Diary and is lead by vocalist Lil Halima matched up with Swedish producer Canto. There are seven tracks on the EP and each one is fire. Let’s look at a few songs from the album.
Type Of Way
Below is a lovely live version of the singer performing the opening track of the album in 2019. Such an elegant pairing of piano and raw vocal ability.
911
Nobody trying to save you! This song is a shot to the heart of all those men out there needing a fix-up. We believe in compromise in a relationship but this goes out to those championing a burning ship. Sometimes tuff love is what is needed to get things up and running.
Block Down
Ok, here’s the let’s get up and ride track. We love this song because to us it represents staying down. Staying true is one of the best qualities you can have no matter what generation or what age. It’s all about Karma and staying true to what you believe in. This song exemplifies that.
Two Pinkies In The Sky
This is a great album for anyone to listen to. We left some of the tracks out of this review just because we encourage you to go explore the artist. The vibes coming from this project are impossible to miss. A great album for chilling with friends or just bringing a positive vibe to your world.
