Ben Abraham Delivers Powerful Single “War In Your Arms”
Ben Abraham just made the world spin a lot better with his latest single “War In Your Arms”. The record is a powerful expression of a lover who’s confronting the pressing edges of a relationship gone bad. What’s wonderful about Abraham is his ability to capture the emotional content of the writing and convey it in the studio. Ben’s voice is gently applied like a soft-bristled paintbrush moving through the delicate liquids of a watercolor. This artist is just starting to bloom so let’s get to know him a little bit.
Professional Choppers
Ben Abraham is an Indonesian-Australian singer who is now based in Los Angeles. He’s well known for his songwriting ability and creamy peanut butter vocals. In 2014 he produced his first completely independent LP Sirens. The album was so good that it was picked up by indie label Secretly Canadian and re-issued two years later. In 2017 Ben co-wrote the song “Praying”, which won Kesha a Grammy Award for Best Pop Solo Performance.
Last year, Abraham released a striking rendition of Peter Gabriel’s classic “In Your Eyes,” recorded live during sunset at the Vasquez Rocks in California. This followed the singles “Satellite” and “Nobody Wants to Hear Songs Anymore,” both previously released in 2019. “Satellite” is a particularly moving piece. The way the video is shot gives you a strikingly focused perspective which draws you into the screen like Carolann from Poltergeist.
Now let’s get back into this delicious-sounding single. Ben, who is now signed with Atlantic Records, is set to release his sophomore album later this year. The single “War In Your Arms” is the first glimpse of how powerful the artist has become in the course of a year. The song was produced by James Flannigan (Dua Lipa, MARINA, Matt Maeson) and co-written with fellow Australian singer-songwriter Helen Croome.
What Ben had to say about the track
“It’s about that point when the relationship is done and you’re trying so hard to hold onto love, it almost becomes like an act of violence. All you’re really doing is hurting yourself and hurting the other person until you can gather the strength to say, ‘Enough. I’m done.’”
