Chet Faker Gives You A Naked View
Chet Faker spent 2020 letting some really good music out of his soul. I don’t think music fans have had a more honest look at music genius since Jim Morrison. Reacclimated to his stage name Chet Faker, Nick Murphy released a three-piece EP this year and it was absolutely spectacular.
We grow so tired of the pre-selected emojis that so many singers are channeled into while trying to grow their careers. Chet Faker is a breath of fresh air, a sigh in the comfort of your own bed knowing that you will not be bullshitted through an album. The first EP is assumed, as it is not accordingly named, the Music For Silence piece. We have previously written upon it and appreciate the quality of the work.
Recently Chet released Cassette #2 and Cassette #3 which are complementary components of the entire project. They are both intimate portraits of the artist that very few in this industry are eager to compose.
Below is the first installment of the work, released in March 2020. It is called Music For Silence.
Next is the middle layer of the delectable sandwich of sound. Check out the second EP below. This piece in particular incorporates many layers of horns and voices that express a distinguishable design the artist is all but willing to convey in this short burst of bare exploration. One of our favorite features of this album is the song “Love Repreyes” that gives you a full two and a half minutes of raw anticipation of what is coming next. Bravo to Nick for pulling that one-off. It was a great beginning to the ending of this thoughtful arrangement.
As you enter the third section, left neither longing or overfilled with the body of work, the listener is adorned in proportion to the vibrations of the next four songs. A more upbeat version of what you heard before, the third EP kind of brings you towards wanting to get up, follow the exit lines, and live your own version of the reality you have been exposed to. A piece of music symphony well-executed and keenly awarded to the like-minded. Nick Murphy a.k.a Chet Faker remains solid gold.
