Dylan Fraser Hits Different With New Single “I’d Rather Be Here”
While technically still a teenager at 19, Scottish-born newcomer Dylan Fraser doesn’t use kid gloves when it comes to music. His latest single “I’d Rather Be Here” is a wicked good double punch combo of alt-rock and alt-pop. The lyrics move into the arrangement slow and sure like a steamboat rolling away from a coastline.
This record will be included in the EP due this summer. That’ll be the second album the young artist has produced in just under a year. At the end 2020 he delivered his debut EP Storm. This is one of our favorite pieces of last year for a few reasons, one of them is the simplicity he uses to encapsulate the subject matter. The single “Gucci Sweater” is one of our favorite visuals for any song and it couldn’t be more simple, it’s perfect.
On this track you can hear that Dylan is growing quickly. He shows a slight switch up in styles while still maintaining the distinctive characteristics that make his vibe so unique.
What Dylan Says About The Song
“I’d rather be here is about someone who meant a lot to me but wasn’t necessarily good for my mental state. There was a lot of negativity and it was really starting to wear me down. It put me in a tricky situation, as when you care so deeply for someone, it can sometimes feel better to stay in a shitty situation than to address it head on out of fear of losing that person. This particular experience sparked the lyric “I’d rather be here than nowhere at all.”
A wonderful insight into a very stout new single. We love the vibes, we love the artist. Two pinkies up.
