Hey U X – Album Review
The piping hot New Zealand superstar Benee came correct with her debut album; definitely did not disappoint her quickly growing fan base with Hey U X. It’s remarkable how many other young blasters she was able to collaborate with. The likes of Bakar, Gus Dapperton, Flow-Milli, and Lily Allen showed out to support this project by adding their respective attributes, but it did not take away from the individual signature sound Benee has been able to convey.
Benee has been blowing up the charts in New Zealand. She has consecutively won Single of the Year, Best Solo Artist, and Best Pop Artist for the last 2 years at the New Zealand Music Awards. That’s not why we like this album though. We like it mostly because her voice sounds like old school Justin Beiber and Billie Eilish had a baby. Plus the beats on the piece are nuttier than squirrel turds.
The talented singer actually used the platform TikTok to gain international notoriety and promote her singles Glitter and Soaked.
The best thing about this album is the number of songs. At thirteen Benee gives you a full volume of expression that even though she has so many features on the piece, you really come away with a feeling that you’ve been touched by the artist herself. This album was beautifully conceived and executed and is a must-have for any serious music lover. So glad there were a few bright spots in 2020. This album was one of them. Below is a great visual for the song Supalonely that features another rising superstar Gus Dapperton.
Here is another single off the album called Kool. A badass song with a great sim visual spinoff. Nothing wrong with bringing a good amount of ingenuity to your video development, well done.
