Must-Have Album Review: Reverie By Ben Platt

Chetuno | August 16, 2021
Ben Platt

Ben Platt just released his second full-length album Reverie. The Los Angeles native has a deeply saturated voice that brings a lot to every song he sings. The new album is a showcase in both vocal talent and incredible songwriting. The emotion that explodes with every blistering word is savagely garnishing views and listens everywhere on all platforms.

“We all need different forms of escape,” says Ben. “For me, the music presented itself as an escape. It made me forget my troubles and stop thinking of my circumstances, but also see life in a different way that I didn’t necessarily expect. A Reverie is a daydream pleasant enough to take you out of where you are. When you return, you glean new perspective.”

Working with Michael Pollack as Executive Producer, he architected the framework for the album via ZOOM before wrapping it all up with in-person sessions in a Southern California Airbnb. Sonically, he nodded to influences as diverse as Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, and George Michael, expanding the overall palette. Ben heralded Reverie with “Imagine” produced by The Monsters & Strangerz and Jon Bellion.

Happy To Be Sad

This is Ben’s breathtaking album release performance with the city of Los Angeles as the backdrop. The sunset is gorgeous and the performance is on point. A great way to kick off an album.
