New Music: Scars by American Television
Living in the shadow of Washington DC, it’s no surprise that American Television is fueled and influenced by the pressures and political turmoil of our nation’s capital. They shape their angst, exhaustion, and personal traumas, plus a dash of hope, into a Molotov cocktail of melody and vitriol aimed at both the system and their own demons.
The band American Television’s latest album, Scars, is their second full-length one and follows on from 2020’s Watch It Burn, released by Wiretap Records. Their music features a blend of cynical perspectives and pop-punk hooks, which is perfectly suited to A-F Records, the label founded by Anti-Flag.
Even though you might not have heard of them before, American Television has likely shared the stage with some of your favorite Fest bands, including Spanish Love Songs, Direct Hit!, Iron Chic, MakeWar, The Copyrights, and Piebald. They have also played at the festival themselves for three consecutive years.
American Television’s unique yet familiar style of fast-paced, melodic punk rock shines through on Scars, showcasing their impressive songwriting skills with socially conscious lyrics and infectious energy.
