New Single “One Life” By BLOW
French electronic pop band BLOW returns today with their new single ‘One Life’, the second cut to emerge from the Parisian three-piece’s forthcoming second album, Shake The Disease, due for release in late 2021. A follow-up to BLOW’s 2018 debut Vertigo, the album has been produced by Kitsuné-fostered talent Crayon (who’s previously collaborated with Phoenix, Yuksek, and Simian Mobile Disco).
Written by BLOW – Quentin Guglielmi (vocals), Thomas Clairice (bass, formerly also a touring member of Her), and Jean-Etienne Maillard (guitar) – during last year’s global lockdown, the hip hop-adjacent warmth of ‘One Life’ is offset by bruised lyrics that bear the challenges of staring down your 30’s in an increasingly unsettled and unsettling world.
Tapping into the rub between who we want to be as people and who we actually are day-to-day, BLOW’s songwriting holds a mirror up to a generation increasingly forced to question everything. In a statement released alongside “One Life” the band says “We are a shredded humanity, laughing about the sky and the trees. Withstanding time with darkness in our mind. Time goes by but madness persists. Only the abyss remains green. Even the wise are absurd”.
Blow is like the everlasting gobstopper of good music, the flavors are plentiful and ongoing. The level of skill that is going into this music is breathtaking, the execution and delivery are flawless. The single, which you can find here, is out now on all platforms.
