T.O.D – La Vita Nuova by christine and the queens feat. Caroline Polachek
Our track of the day to end the year 2020 is “La Vita Nuova”, a single released at the beginning of the year by Christine and the Queens featuring Caroline Polachek. We must admit when we first laid our pre-pandemic eyes on this video we didn’t know what the hell to think.
Now, if we think of the horned dude in the visual accompanying the song as Covid, and we are just the artist trying to do that damn thing, the whole thing just makes sense. The gravity of the lyrics hit you right in your heart even if you don’t speak french. European decadence overflows as the artist dances her way through many different scenes. Rooftops in France, vintage performing arts theatres, yes, please!
The video is in our opinion the video of the year for many different reasons including the fact that it’s twelve minutes long. We are so joyful to have experienced such a superb piece of work from this very special group.
