T.O.D – The Adults Are Talking By The Strokes
One of the best songs on The Strokes’ latest album The New Abnormal is the single “The Adults Are Talking”. It’s one of our favorite songs of 2020 for many different reasons. The band has two guitarists and it isn’t scared to use them; Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr. create a punchy rhythm with bassist Nikolai Fraiture that just makes your body feel good.
From a band that formed in the ’90s it is remarkable to hear something with classic qualities without being a carbon copy, this song is right on trend in terms of style. The piece also encapsulates a portion of punk perspective far ahead of the curve.
Anyone who is pulling off a video shoot during 2020 is a hero. Since their album was released when people were actually scared of coronavirus, the band undoubtedly had to sacrifice a certain level of creativity to get the project done. The end result is a really good change-up for the fans even if they don’t like baseball. The android villain reminds us of old school “Terminator” movies and nobody ever complains when the band gets wet.
