One of the first things you notice when you start this album is the mastering. The way that the levels are arranged is very important in the delivery of music. We are happy that Tash has found a way into a very focused, expression-driven studio to record her latest project. Terra Firma is a very carefully put-together ensemble of songs that are not meant to express the emotional content of a moment. This album is a look inside the artist herself, an honest glimpse into a world perceived by the user.
When you hear a Sultana song you get the vibe of a deeper message. When she performs her music, the fan gets the sense of a freestyle, meaning that the artist herself is discovering the song at the same time as the listener. This skill comes from an honest soul exploring their inner space and taking us along with them.
This is not an easy skill to wield in this day and age of time and of music. We cannot remember when an artist has made this type of bold expression in terms of songwriting. Tash is an originally spectacular artist when it comes to the level of song-creating skill. The closest thing we can remember being this good was the particular prowess of Prince.
