Video Spotlight: “From the Back of a Cab” by Rostam
Rostam Batmanglij, or Rostam for the fans who prefer to avoid mispronunciation, has intertwined our ears and our hearts with his recent release of Changephobia. Although his shortened name is becoming a memorable moniker, this artist is a multi-faceted musician, director, producer, songwriter, and singer. Not only was he one of the founding members of Vampire Weekend, but he also produced their first three albums. In fact, one of the band’s earliest releases Contra was Rostam’s direction debut and earned him the honor of a number one album – all at the tender age of 27.
This unique and talented individual has been nominated for three separate Grammy Awards and won for Vampire Weekend’s 2013 Modern Vampires of the City. His artistically oriented family upbringing has allowed him to follow the footsteps of his creative predecessors and has brought him onto a path of continual success through collaborations and solo ventures. Everything he touches becomes a ray of light in the rainbow spectrum.
We’ve listened to the whole album on repeat since its release date of June 4th and each track strummed our heartstrings so sweetly it was challenging to choose a feature. At Bubbling Box we’re here to celebrate, embrace and empower every being who radiates positive vibes. It’s our mission to spread positivity and love in an endless continuum.
