Los Angeles singer-songwriter Sophia James returned on September 1 with “Finish What You Started,” a sharp, emotionally direct song about undeniable chemistry followed by sudden silence.
James blends power pop, indie pop, folk, jazz and rock with a lyrical style that finds humor inside messy relationships. The new release follows her six-track EP The Wrong Shoe Theory and the summer single “Ryan.” Her recent run has also included headline performances, an appearance on NBC’s TODAY, and a growing online community built around her candid songwriting.
“Finish What You Started” belongs in the Listening Lobby because its frustration is instantly recognizable: being encouraged to believe a connection is real, then being left without an ending.
