The Undercover Dream Lovers Open the Door to atomic house

Some memories arrive with a smell. Others arrive with the clunk of a videotape sliding into a machine. The Undercover Dream Lovers have built their latest album around the small things that can open very large doors.

Matt Koenig’s third album, atomic house, was released March 20, 2026. Its 14 tracks make a roughly 40-minute journey through a project that the release announcement connects to tactile childhood memories: doorbells, old technology and the feeling of growing up in the 1990s. The announcement also describes Koenig making more space for guitar and a rougher vocal approach.

For a concrete entry point, try “prom queen.” The publicity notes its VHS-opening detail; “lies lies lies” offers another doorway into the record’s childhood-to-adulthood thread. Both sit inside the full album.
