Little Simz’s Lotus: Follow the Collaborators

The guest credit is an excellent rabbit hole. Little Simz’s Lotus gives us a few worth following, while keeping its author firmly at the center.

Released in June 2025, the thirteen-track album includes “Flood,” featuring Obongjayar and Moonchild Sanelly. Apple Music’s album account identifies Miles Clinton James as that song’s producer, offering another name to follow behind the performers.

Start there, then move to “Young” and “Free.” The first step introduces a collaboration; the next two return attention to the range within Simz’s own writing. Hear them in the album sequence afterward so the individual tracks have their surrounding story.

There is a useful habit here for anyone discovering hip-hop: give the production credits the same curiosity as the voices. A song’s character is shaped by writing, performance and the choices supporting them, and each can lead to other work.

Simz’s catalogue supplies further context, from GREY Area to Sometimes I Might Be Introvert and NO THANK YOU. You don’t have to finish the whole history before arriving at Lotus, but those records remain there when a particular idea makes you curious.

Take one collaborator’s name away with you. Come back for another Simz track. That is a considerably more rewarding loop than letting an artist’s credit disappear beneath the next swipe.
