Follow Black Thought Into Gorillaz’s The Moon Cave
Black Thought, Asha Puthli, Bobby Womack, Dave Jolicoeur and Jalen Ngonda. That is a track credit worth stopping for.
All five are listed on “The Moon Cave” from Gorillaz’s The Mountain, released February 27, 2026. For our Black Thought catch-up, we are following that collaboration rather than giving you another greatest-rappers list to argue with.
We know where he belongs in that conversation. What interests us today is where his work can take a listener next.
Gorillaz have put several musical generations in the credits here, including the late Womack and Jolicoeur. Those credits tell us who appears on the recording; they do not mean everybody was together for one new studio session. It is worth making that distinction while appreciating the company.
The album artwork sends the band’s illustrated characters up a mountain beneath a golden sky. It is an entirely different visual setting from a Roots performance, and that contrast makes this a fun route into Black Thought’s wider work.
Read the names. Follow one you recognize, then investigate one you do not. A collaboration can introduce us to more than the artist who brought us there.
Listen through the official Gorillaz release page. We will happily make room for a few more names in the record collection.
