SHAED Bring Spinning Out Back to the People Closest to Them
There is something lovely about the idea that the people you make a life with can also help you make the work. Not effortlessly. Not without the messy bits. But together.
SHAED—Chelsea Lee and twin brothers Max and Spencer Ernst—describe Spinning Out through the experiences around them: relationships, parenthood and writing at home. Their official biography also names producer Mike Del Rio as a collaborator on this second album. The album page is the direct route into the songs.
For readers who joined us around “Dizzy,” the return is an opportunity to look past a single familiar song and follow the group’s wider creative life. “Rocket in the Sky,” “Everybody Knows I’m High” and the title track are among the songs the band highlights.
We are drawn to that home-sized perspective. Music does not only happen in extraordinary places. It can grow around ordinary routines, conversations and the people who know when something is not quite right yet.
That does not make it smaller. It gives the listener another way to connect. Our suggestion is to spend time with the album and then read the band’s own account of how it came together. Sometimes knowing who was in the room changes how warmly you hear it.
