Build the capsule around one coat, one weather-resistant jacket, two knit layers, two base layers, two bottoms, one dependable boot and one flexible accessory set. The number is less important than the relationships among the pieces.

Choose a compact palette without eliminating personality. Two neutrals can support one strong color or recurring pattern. Vary texture—smooth merino, sturdy denim, brushed wool—so repeated silhouettes do not feel uniform.

Every top should work with both bottoms. At least one knit should fit beneath each outer layer. The boot should tolerate the hems and weather most common in your life. Scarves, jewelry, hats and existing shoes can expand the system without being counted as a demand to buy more.

Photograph several combinations and note what genuinely feels missing. Then wait. A capsule succeeds when it reveals that the useful wardrobe is already present, not when it becomes another shopping list.
