Thundercat Is Coming to Orlando. Monday Can Wait.
Orlando, save a little energy for Sunday. Thundercat is coming to The Plaza Live on October 4, and going to bed early suddenly seems like a terrible idea.
The venue lists an 8pm, all-ages show. With Daði Freyr playing the same room on Friday, this is a rather delicious weekend for anyone who likes their music with personality.
There is a fresh album to get acquainted with, too. Distracted arrived April 3 through Brainfeeder, with A$AP Rocky, WILLOW and Tame Impala among the contributors. Greg Kurstin, Flying Lotus and Kenneth Blume appear in the production credits. Thundercat has certainly invited interesting people over.
On the official album page, “No More Lies,” “Anakin Learns His Fate” and “I Wish I Didn’t Waste Your Time” sit in the same track list. Romance, regret and a Star Wars reference. We appreciate an artist with range—even before the bass comes out.
And look at Neil Krug’s cover photograph: that mischievous expression, the collar pulled up, the little glint in the eyes. It makes a wonderfully uncomplicated promise of character.
We are excited to see what he brings to Orlando. Get familiar with the record, bring someone curious, and leave the next morning’s to-do list at home. It will survive without you for a few hours.
