Zero 7 Led Us to Swim Surreal. Follow This One.
Zero 7 fans, have you spent any time with Swim Surreal?
The name on the cover changes, but there is a very good reason for the connection: In the Half Light was co-written and produced by Zero 7. Released June 21, 2024, the nine-track project is available through Zero 7’s official Bandcamp page.
“The Crowd,” “Bloom,” “Don’t Call It Love” and “Back to Earth” are among the tracks. “Masquerade” includes Lou Stone. For anyone who enjoys finding new music through the people making it, the credits have done us a favor.
Then there is that cover: a painted hillside of dark rocks, pale tree trunks and sunlight tangled in the grass. It rewards a bigger screen. You can almost lose the album title in the urge to look closer at the picture.
This is exactly the kind of catch-up we enjoy. We go looking for an artist we love, find another project connected to them, and suddenly the listening list is longer. A minor inconvenience we are willing to live with.
Keep Swim Surreal’s name attached when you share it. The collaboration is the point, and it helps the next listener actually find the record.
Listen to In the Half Light. It does not need to have come out this morning to become part of your evening.
