Fashion Without the Velvet Rope: How to Watch New York Fashion Week Free
Leah’s Pick
No invitation? No problem. From a giant screen at Rockefeller Center to the official digital viewing hub, here is how to catch New York Fashion Week’s Spring/Summer 2027 collections for free from September 10–15.
New York Fashion Week has always carried a little velvet-rope mystery: the black cars, the impossible guest lists and the feeling that the runway is happening somewhere just beyond reach. This season, the doors are opening wider—and we are happily stepping into the light.
The official September 2026 NYFW schedule runs Thursday, September 10, through Tuesday, September 15, presenting the Spring/Summer 2027 collections. The Council of Fashion Designers of America says the week includes 70 runway shows and presentations, beginning with Henry Zankov’s debut collection as artistic director of Diane von Furstenberg and closing with Thom Browne.
Your free front row in New York
NYFW Live at Rockefeller Center is turning The Rink into fashion’s biggest neighborhood watch party. Throughout the six-day event, a mix of live and recorded shows is playing on a 27-by-28-foot screen. Rockefeller Center lists the experience as completely free and open to the public.
The streaming lineup is stacked with color, craft and serious personality: Michael Kors Collection, Coach, Tory Burch, Khaite, Anna Sui, Ulla Johnson, LaQuan Smith, Calvin Klein Collection, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Thom Browne are among the confirmed names. No mysterious plus-one text required—just make your way to The Rink at 30 Rockefeller Plaza and give yourself time to find a comfortable view.
There are a couple of free-access bonuses around the plaza, too. GapBag takes over the Channel Gardens September 11–13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., while The House of Sally Hansen lands on the North Esplanade by The Rink on Saturday, September 12, from noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday, September 13, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Watching from home
Readers outside New York can use Rockefeller Center’s official NYFW event page as the digital doorway. The CFDA describes Rockefeller Center as the only public destination—physical or digital—for these NYFW show streams. Exact daily webcast times are not currently listed on the public event page, so check the official hub before tuning in and use its schedule link to follow updates.
That is the beauty of this year’s setup: whether you are standing beneath the Midtown lights or watching from the couch with your own homemade front row, the clothes can still find you. Pick a designer you already love, add one unfamiliar name to your list and let the runway send a little color through the room.
