London Fashion Week Isn’t Just for the Front Row
Fashion should give you ideas, not make you feel as though you need a special wristband to have them. With London Fashion Week running September 17–21, we’re interested in the places where that creative energy reaches beyond the runway.
The British Fashion Council’s public-facing programme includes a jewellery showcase at Dover Street Market and the British Vogue x NIKE Café at 180 Strand, open to all September 19–20. Its Fashion Britain campaign also stretches beyond London, with public events and creative activity across eight UK cities throughout September.
For those of us watching from farther away, the programme also points to eBay’s Endless Runway livestream and its focus on pre-loved fashion. There’s something refreshing about looking for a new possibility in a piece that already has a story.
Here at the Box, we like style with a little personality showing through the seams. An unexpected color pairing, a beautiful piece of jewellery, or an old favorite worn a different way can be more exciting than chasing an entire new wardrobe. Looking is part of the pleasure; buying something is not an entrance requirement.
That is the invitation this weekend: follow the ideas, notice the details, and bring something of yourself to what you wear. You don’t have to recreate a runway to let it spark your imagination.
Explore the official schedule and check individual event entry details before heading out. Public activities and invitation-only shows are not the same thing—but there is more than one way into the conversation.
