Brennan Wedl Stops Searching and Becomes Her Own North Star
Brennan Wedl’s self-titled ANTI- debut does not arrive with the careful distance of a formal introduction. Released August 21, Brennan Wedl feels immediate, funny, spiritual and unguarded—the sound of an artist sorting through old expectations while refusing to lose her sense of play.
Wedl previously co-founded the queercore group Dazey and the Scouts, but her solo work opens a different kind of room. These songs move through self-acceptance, belief and the uncomfortable process of shedding identities that no longer fit. The writing can be tender without becoming precious and sharp without turning cynical.
That balance gives the album its character. Wedl approaches transformation as something messy rather than heroic. Humor and ache can occupy the same line; confidence can coexist with uncertainty. Instead of presenting a finished version of herself, she makes the search part of the music.

We love the freedom in an artist who can be sincere without becoming solemn. What stands out to us is Wedl’s ability to turn self-examination into motion. Her songs do not wait for perfect clarity—they move forward carrying the questions, and that honesty gives the record its glow.
