Wade Forster Rides Out The Aftermath Toward the Grand Ole Opry
Wade Forster is carrying songs shaped by real rodeo dust onto one of country music’s most storied stages. The Australian singer-songwriter released The Aftermath on August 14 through Community Music and is set to make his Grand Ole Opry debut on September 30.
Forster’s path into music began far from a polished Nashville writing room. A working rodeo cowboy, he learned to play on a $50 guitar and built his songs around the plainspoken detail of life he actually knew. That background gives his writing an uncommon sense of place: horses, distance, work and heartbreak are not decorative symbols but part of the landscape.
The Aftermath arrives as Forster’s audience continues to grow beyond Australia. His appeal rests in the meeting of traditional country storytelling and a young artist’s directness. The Opry appearance is a major marker, but it also feels like the beginning of a wider introduction.
Our Take
We love country music that sounds lived-in rather than borrowed. What draws us to Forster is the lack of costume in his storytelling—he does not need to invent the road because he has already travelled it.
